Description

Toy Chest is handcrafted in Copenhagen from solid Kalmar Fir sourced in Sweden. With its simple, calm look, it fits naturally into both children’s rooms and shared family spaces.

It works as both seating and storage, with room for toys, books, shoes, or blankets. A small gap between the lid and front helps protect little fingers from getting pinched.

Finished with a natural low-VOC oil and wax treatment, free from harsh chemicals, it’s easy to care for and made to age beautifully. Over time, the fir develops a deeper tone and a beautiful natural patina.

Every piece of wood is unique, with its own knots, grain, and small imperfections that are kept as part of the design.

Benjamin Ahearn, founder of BACD Studio, is an American architect and furniture maker based in Copenhagen. In 2017, he co-founded BACD Studio with his wife, Danish architect Camilla Dahl, with the aim to compose a narrative between Danish and American design traditions.

All BACD Studio products are designed and produced entirely in house in their Copenhagen workshop. With a focus on small batch, high quality wooden items, great care and attention is given to the entire process. From selecting regional timber, to crafting and finishing everything by hand, each product from BACD Studio is designed to age gracefully.
