Our Story

Origins

Minor Things was founded in 2021 as a family business with a deliberate wish to create a gentle counterweight to a noisy, digital home life. Rather than dictate how to play or interact, our designs offer a physical and inspiring invitation to joy, play, and imagination.

What began as a passion-driven project, rooted in our own search for balance, to align a professional life with a grounded family life, has since evolved into a dedicated design company. From our base in Copenhagen, we sell our products worldwide.

Design philosophy

We believe design for children should be taken seriously. As two trained designers, we are driven by a deep love of craft and a conviction that responsibility begins with good, long-lasting design. Moving away from shifting seasons and fleeting trends, we focus on classic products that remain relevant over time.

Our ambition is to create the foundation for what we value most: presence, calm, and immersion. We design with the belief that the physical objects in a home should make space for both play and imagination, and that a well-considered product can support a child’s focus and development throughout childhood.

Materials & craft

The physical presence of an object is defined by the honesty of its materials. This is why we prioritize high-quality textiles and wood materials that carry a clear tactile integrity. We keep all production within Europe, which allows us to stay closely connected to a heritage of local expertise we admire and wish to support.

Every design begins as a handmade prototype in our studio. By controlling the small-scale process from the first stitch to the final piece, we ensure material integrity remains at the centre. Ultimately, how an object is made is inseparable from the purpose it serves.

Family rituals

Minor Things lives within the rituals of intentional family life, in dreams, in playtime, and in the intricate worlds children create when given the space to do so. Our designs are intended as playful anchors where imagination can wander, and where the small moments of childhood take root.

Made to last and designed with a timeless expression, our pieces naturally become part of a growing family history. We have seen our designs evolve over the years, taken into families and passed on to siblings or friends exactly as intended. Nothing makes us happier.
